What is UGC content? How can your business use User Generated Content? Where can you find UGC creators? Is it more effective than Influencer Marketing?

Have you noticed the explosive growth of UGC creators in the last 6 months? You’re not alone. From TikTok to Twitter, there are many UGC content creators who will film organic and paid content for your business's social media channels like Instagram and TikTok.

The concept of user-generated content, also called UGC, is not new. Businesses, both small and large have been using user-generated content across their marketing channels for growth, awareness, and social proof.

But, before we delve into UGC Creators, let’s look at what UGC is and where you may have come across it.

To keep this concise, I will go over my responses to an Africa Tweet Chat I guested on in September 2020. For ease, you can find these inserted below.

What is UGC Content?

UGC is any content created by users online. These include customers of your product/service, fans, or anyone who shares your product/service across various digital platforms.

UGC content is seen in the form of video, images, text, testimonials, reviews, memes, quotes, and more recently in Instagram Reels and TikTok videos.

When we tweet, post to Instagram, FB, TikTok, etc we’re all providing content considered as UGC.

Think of it this way.

Do you have friends or family members who post about a product they used or a product they liked? A new sparkling water flavour maybe? That new spring drink at Starbucks? Every post of this nature is known as User Generated Content.

What types of content are considered UGC Content?
